Recently, I experienced probably one of the most transformational moments in my life. I was sharing my journey with a calm and wise friend who is a few decades ahead of me in life. When I was finished, he made a comment to the tune of me needing to forgive myself, which I listened to and shrugged off at the same time. I did not shrug enough because that comment was sitting in my head through the next day.

So, I found myself sitting in a Whole Foods parking lot walking through a verbal and visual experience of forgiving myself for mistakes and regrets that found their home in my heart for years. As I processed each one, it was like the rest that Jesus promises in Matthew 11:28 poured out.

A key to oneness with the Father is forgiveness, forgiving yourself as you forgive others. Extend grace to yourself for your marriage, financial, parenting, childhood, verbal, friendship, job, mistakes that you have made in your life. The amazing side of this journey is that forgiving yourself allows you to forgive others easier, which causes you to go further without this weight holding you back.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
