The ravages of war, the destruction of ethnic cleansing, the hopelessness of empty secularism, the divisiveness of multiple religions, the abandonment of numerous mission groups, and the struggling presence of the local church has led many of these people to both forget and feel forgotten.
The Balkans (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia) are filled with people who have forgotten they are made in the image of a real, loving, joyful, peaceful, living God.
But our prayer is that these words of God will ring true over this land: “Even these may forget, but I will not forget you. Behold, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands…” (IS. 49:16)
So, we go to discover if there are ways God wants to use Uncharted to dispel the idea of being ‘forgotten.’ To establish a new Community that will help people remember. To remember that they are loved. That they are not alone. To remember both that they are forgiven and what it is to forgive. To remember that God desperately wants to be their God and longs for them to be His people.
